The Navajo Girls Fastpitch league offers four programs for girls to play softball
- Recreation (Fall and Spring)
- Select (Fall and Spring)
- All-Stars (Summer)
- Future Stars (Summer)
Following the regular spring Recreation season, the NGF league enters its competitive All-Stars season, which runs from early May to late June (and possibly into July). The All-Stars program is a competitive program and is separate from our Recreation and Select programs. Our All-Stars programs have 2-3 levels of teams (Gold, Silver, Bronze) for each division (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U). All-Stars team formation changes each All-Stars season. The All-Stars season is about developing advanced skills, competing against top teams in our area, and instilling a hard-work ethic and winning attitude. When forming the All- Stars teams, coaches will be looking for girls who have:
- Demonstrated above average softball skills in the rec season.
- Improved their abilities by consistent attendance at practices and games.
- Regularly projected a positive attitude, commitment, and extra hustle.
- Dependably been respectful to coaches, adult volunteers, umpires, and
teammates.
- Been proud to represent Navajo Girls Fastpitch.
All-Stars teams comprise the best players from our recreational teams. All-Stars try outs
are on May 1, 2025. That evening managers select their teams. If your daughter is
selected to a team, she will be notified on May 2, 2025. The All-Stars teams jump right
into team bonding with an All-Stars BBQ event along with team dinners and sleep overs
on the weekend of May 3-4, 2025.
To be considered for the All-Stars program, please read this Player/Parent Commitment
Letter and fill out this application from, which is due April 27, 2025.

All-Stars Managers
All-Stars Managers apply to manage NGF All-Stars teams in March. In April, fellow
managers vote to select the best manager to lead our All-Stars teams. All candidates for
Manager must be a Manager or Coach for the NGF during the current season, lead with
knowledge of the NGF rules, and demonstrate positive sportsmanship and leadership.
During the Recreation season, those who are interested in applying for an All-Star
Manager coaching position, lead their Recreational and Select teams and observe other
players on other teams to learn about prospective All-Stars players. During All-Stars try
outs, Recreation managers rank players and then the All-Stars Managers build their
teams from the rankings.
During the All-Stars season, the Manager teaches players how to improve their skills
and compete to win in a very competitive tournament environment. This is achieved by
setting individual and team goals, team building exercises, development of a positive
and competitive attitude, and above all, teaching players that dedication and hard work
will yield desired results.
For the 2025 season, All-Stars Managers must fill out this application form, which is due
on April 6, 2025. Voting takes place April 30, 2025.

All-Stars Practices and Games
Attendance of all practices and all games is mandatory.
An intense practice schedule will begin after the teams have been chosen. Teams may
practice 3-5 times per week, 2-3 hours each practice. Practice takes place at our NGF
Fields May through July.
After practice during the week, All-Stars teams participate in competitive weekend
tournaments throughout San Diego County. Tournaments begin with Pool Play games
on Friday and/or Saturday. Pool Play is when players compete in 2-3 games, and the
games’ outcomes determine the teams’ standings for Bracket Play on Sunday.
On Sunday, the teams return for Bracket Play games, which continue the competition in
single or double elimination. Some Sundays, teams could lose the first game and come
home. Sometimes the team keeps winning and may play until late in the evening and
bring home championship rings!
Tournaments occur the beginning of May until the end of June. All teams will attend
District tournaments in mid- to late June with the possibility of advancing to State
championships in late June to early July. Depending on how they win at States, teams
could continue to Regionals, which would mean the commitment could run through late
July to early August.

All-Stars Parents and Family Commitment
Navajo All-Stars is a family affair, an all-hands-on-deck effort. Parents are needed! We
need parents to serve as Team Mom, to help shag balls at practice, to play walk up
songs for each game, to keep score with GameChanger each game, to bring nutritious
snacks for players between games, and to host team bonding parties.
Beginning in 2021, Navajo began hosting its own tournament during the All-Stars
season, the SD Summer Sizzle Invitational. Volunteering for a 2-hour shift during the
Summer Sizzle tournament weekend is mandatory. Shifts include setting up fields,
managing concessions and swag, checking in teams from other leagues, and cleaning
up.
While NGF shares some of the financial commitment for the season (two uniforms, a
practice jersey, some of the tournament fees), the player’s family will incur the majority
of expenses related to the All-Stars experience. Families should be prepared to spend
approximately $400-600 per player throughout the season. Typical expenses include
helmets, tournament entry fees, incidental team fees determined by the team manager,
Big Sister/Little Sister gifts, pictures, team parties, etc. Some tournaments may require
travel and hotels, which will be at the expense of each family.
